Hello, I’m Ursula!
Sewing is in my DNA. My grandmother Minnie was a couture seamstress in 1920s Dublin, and generations before her, my German ancestors brought revolutionary linen-making technology to Ireland—craft and innovation have always run through our family line.
Growing up, my bedroom doubled as my mother’s sewing workroom. My mum, Maeve, made pre-production samples for designers, and her sisters Nellie, a head theatrical costume designer, and Bernie, a supervisor at a London apparel manufacturer, worked in the sewing industry as well. I was always well dressed, as were my dolls, thanks to leftover fabric scraps and my growing love of stitching.
As a teenager, my mum taught me pattern drafting, fabric techniques, and the importance of pressing a seam. Though I was accepted to fashion school, I followed my parents’ advice and studied graphic design. Still, the sewing bug never left me.
I eventually found my way into the craft industry, which fulfilled my creative soul for many years. But I kept dreaming of something more—a digital space where sewing creators could thrive, connect, and grow.
That dream became SewShare. Built with the help of brilliant, inspiring people I’ve had the privilege to work with, it’s a home for designers and seamsters to come together, build community, and shape the future of sewing.

Hi, I’m Julie!
Some of the childhood memories I cherish most are going to Cloth World with my mother and grandmother to pick out patterns, buttons, fabric and trim for a new dress or outfit. My mom made her own wedding dress – drafted the pattern and all – inspired by the cover of a Modern Bride magazine. Then, worn by two of my aunts for their own weddings, “Peggy’s dress” transformed from a sewing project into a symbol of our family bond, an heirloom.
There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands and sharing its story with others. I rediscovered that unique joy when I co-founded and launched Creativebug in 2012—a groundbreaking subscription video platform for makers and crafters, built at a time when Netflix was still mailing DVDs. Creativebug gave people everywhere access to expert-led classes and a vibrant creative community, long before streaming became the norm.
Now, with SewShare, my hope is to bring that same sense of connection and inspiration to Seamsters around the world—helping us support and encourage each other, one stitch at a time.

Hey there, I’m Vickie!
I was practically born wearing a home-sewn bonnet (think Little House on the Prairie style) and spent much of my childhood in the aisles of Clothworld, Hancock Fabrics, and JOANN, as well as in clothes made by my mom—ranging from nightgowns with matching sleep caps (do you sense a theme?) to party dresses with pinafores. So much time and care went into my wardrobe. Arguably even more impressive, though, is that she also made matching outfits for my Rub-a-dub-Dolly. Working with buttonholes and trimming details on that scale is no joke! Respect.
When I was about seven years old, I decided to give doll dressmaking a try myself. I still remember tracing around one of Dolly’s existing dresses onto two pieces of pink polyester and handsewing them together. Who needs 3-dimensional shaping, anyway? As an adult, I started a small online sewing business (this was before blogs or Etsy) called Mamarama, which opened doors to meeting new, like-minded crafters, and eventually landed me the gig that changed my entire professional trajectory: hosting DIY Network & HGTV’s show, Knitty Gritty. From there, my needles have continue to guide the way!
I’m so excited to roam the proverbial Technique Library aisles with fellow seamsters, build our beautiful maker community, and create magical things (this time, with allowance for curves) together

Hi, I’m Scott!
I’ve always been driven by the instinct to build—from childhood designs to engineering scalable software platforms. My career sits at the intersection of technology and creativity, leading high-performing teams to build systems where user experience and reliability are paramount. Along the way, I never lost the maker mindset; I’ve spent my spare time engineering Iron Man cosplay armors and competing in New York Comic Con’s Marvel Costume Contest with my wife and friends. Making things has always been about curiosity, iteration, and community.
Having led web development for major brands in the sewing and craft industries, I saw firsthand where the tools for creators often fall short. At SewShare, I lead the technical vision and platform architecture—designing systems that balance modern cloud infrastructure, thoughtful product design, and long-term scalability. My focus is on building technology that quietly empowers creativity: tools that feel intuitive, perform reliably, and grow alongside the community they serve.
