Vendor Biography

DongoDesign means Bettina Dongowski –

so here’s a short personal biography:

After completing my fashion design studies, I worked for several years as a designer and pattern maker in permanent positions. At the same time, starting in 1989, I began setting up my own business. I first presented a small leather and linen collection under the name DongoDesign at avant-garde fairs, and from 1991 onward, I also opened my own shop, where I designed, produced, and sold my collections.

Alongside this, I was — and still am — passionate about designing imaginative costumes for theater and stage productions, something I had already started back then.

With two fashion shows each year and numerous press articles, the DongoDesign shop thrived until 2007, when I decided once again to broaden my horizons. I closed the shop, kept my studio, and began teaching fashion design, pattern making, and sewing.

With the development of these brilliant CAD pattern design programs, a new passion emerged: virtual pattern creation opened up entirely new ways to realize my ideas — and made it much easier to market my designs.

In fashion, it’s the little details that fascinate me — everything that makes a garment unique. I love pattern designs that surprise you, make you look twice, and make you wonder… how does that even work? How can a sleeve grow out of a collar?

For me, fashion is something sensual — made of fabrics or other materials that softly and comfortably embrace the body’s silhouette, with cuts that are both comfortable and flattering.

One of my customers once told me:
“Your fashion is a positive feeling for life that you can wear!”

And now, through this sewshareshop, I want to give sewing enthusiasts the opportunity to create their own personal version of that positive feeling!

Have fun!
