This is a stunning wool blend (lab tested at 60%) fabric; the photo does not do it justice! I would not describe it as "sturdy" as it is actually a rather spongy weave and frays easily. With proper seam finishes, this fabric works up beautifully. My daughter used this for a fitted sheath dress (featured in Threads magazine, January 2019, issue #200), but it would be beautiful as a skirt or jacket as well. Underlining is recommended and lining will make it more comfortable against the skin and protect the fabric from wear. Although the fabric is opaque and has a lofty thickness, it is light in weight (does not feel heavy to wear). All around a gorgeous and unusual wool blend.
I ordered this for a costume based on the courtesans from Dangerous Beauty. It will definitely deliver for me. The fabric is mid weight with very fine slubs, densely woven and much more saturated in color than the swatch. Similar to taffeta but more solid feeling. I love it!
For years I've used a massive roll of newsprint to draft my patterns. It wasn't the best, but it was cheap and big. When I ran out, I had trouble finding more. This stuff is an upgrade that I'm very happy with. It's relatively inexpensive so I don't feel inhibited about trying my ideas out, it is thin enough to kind of see through if you need to trace, the numbers and crosses make lining things up a breeze, and it's lightweight but doesn't tear too easily (like the newsprint did... I know, most people probably aren't comparing to newsprint ;) Also, it's wider than most other options I found online, so I can draft fuller skirt without taping pieces together. All around, a good buy.

It has the texture and weight that I just need in a fusible interfacing. The fusible glue has a great quality and totally stays in place.
