Although the picture displays slight color blotches in the fabric, it actually looks as if there are large spots from a spill all over the fabric which really destroys the look of the design and takes away from the vibrant purples and browns. The fabric is described as translucent but it is almost a “sheer” fabric. If not for the blotches, it would make a great cover-up! I don't think ordering a small swatch would accurately portray how many blotches are in this fabric.
Gorgeous fabric with a tiny metallic thread going through it. The color is stunning! Used Theory “dull kelp” for lining and it was perfect. Used McCall's 7741.
I used this fabric to make a “super suit” and it was awesome! Easy to work with, it has good compression and doesn't become sheer when stretched. I also printed on it using stretch HTV and it worked really great!
These Pastel Candy Dots #311086 with a happy, pastel floral edge spoke to me - on lightweight net #FN13864. They said Yes! I want to be a fairy princess dress on a sweet baby girl . By tacking the 6 1/2″ mesh to a stronger net, it became an overlay on to a Dusty Peach Japanese Pima Cotton Lawn #308466 - which needed spray starch. I used Butterick 4110 & floated the Net combo over the cotton skirt. Kept the puff sleeves per pattern with just the Peach. The Candy Dot Net sleeves became a nice Bell overlay. Used Velvet ribbon #424015 @ empire & Headband - petals were Candy Dot & Peach Cotton.
the pleasant surprise was that the fabric had a sheer backing that many brocades do not. I will not have to use a lining as I thought I would. it is important because of the loose weave on the backside of most metallic brocades. the dress already has 2 layers. I was worried about adding a third. now I can just do the 2. a bit of a relief…. the fabric is a lot pinker than the pic, however. had to place the pieces in the creamier/blushier parts. luckily there is enough.
Too lightweight and got “crispy” when ironed and only where ironed, so was from the ironing. Acts like partially not cotton. Worked ok for bodice pattern, not so well for sleeves.
Used this to make a top—it has light stretch, perfect for a beginner sewing. It mostly does not wrinkle so it will be perfect to travel with. Warning: the orchid color is much lighter in person—it looks white in some lighting.
Beautiful fabric with the perfect weight and drape for a simple tee-shirt dress. I used the “wrong” side of the fabric and I love how matte it is. This fabric is not see-through, and does not need a liner.
At first the fabric baffled me, because it is hard to iron. That said, it sees beautifully, and made the best “summer suit” for fun events. I wore it for work last week in crazy heat and was comfortable the whole time:
I have had nothing but fantastic experiences each time I've ordered from Mood Fabric‘s. The fabric and materials are exquisite, and the delivery is quick and without hassle.
This fabric has a soft “hand” to it. The “drape” is perfect for what I used it for. It has a “rich hue” to it. I made a wrap skirt with it. I am pleased with the outcome!
Even my husband said, Oh, that's cool looking!” as I took this fun, polished stretch cotton fabric out of the package. I have a favorite sleeveless dress with on-seam pockets that I intend to make with this joyful, color saturated print.
I didn't read the description close enough so I got 4 panels instead of 4 yards…my bad!! I'll make a skirt instead of a dress. The fabric is beautiful, great weight. Very pleased.
The color was darker than I expected, but I understand that's the risk you run sometimes. So not a perfect match… Nonetheless, the quality was spectacular! I really enjoyed this zipper and would get it again!
So, this is advertised as a novelty knit, but it's really a woven. That, however, was not a problem for me. It's still got some serious 1971 Missoni-ish vibes going for it (I say “-ish” because, well… it's not a knit). It's a fairly loose weave too, but the fabric stayed together stunningly well with less unraveling than I would have expected, all things considered. I may actually buy the winter version of this fabric and make myself a suit out of it because it really was quite fun to work with. My only warning is that there is no repetition of the color throughout so if you want to make a piece that carries the pattern throughout over the seams, you have to cut all of the pieces in a row so just be aware that you may need additional yardage if making something complicated with lots of pieces. I ended up having to buy an extra yard after the fact to get all of my pieces out of it, and I have a ton of extra left over from the top half of the fabric, because I only used the bottom 2/3 of the design.

It is soft, flowy and lightweight perfect for the caftan that I made my sister for her birthday. The print is the piéce de resistance!

This fabric feels wonderful, I love it….But it is not the color shown on the website, it is much lighter more of a mint green. But still lovely
