Mood is an amazing place, and a satisfying online presence, too! The fabric arrived quickly, is super silky soft, and was a pleasure to piece a silky gift for restful slumber. It’s the little things that generate happiness, and starting each day with soft hair and less smoosh face can’t be wrong!

This fabric is expensive but oh so gorgeous. The aqua blue color compliments light color skin and hair really well, and the pop of orange is really fun. I washed and dried a test swatch of this silk and found it looked great being washed at home.
Made Mimi G 8084 Shirtdress by Simplicity, which was a good pairing with this fabric as it doesn't have a waist seam, so the python stripes are uninterrupted down the dress.
For easy cutting, I highly recommend starching the fabric. After washing and drying fabric to preshrink, dissolve cornstarch in hot water, then dilute with cold water, strain out any chunks. Submerge, then squeeze out excess. Hang to dry as straight and square as possible. The texture when starched is like cardboard which is great for cutting with a rotary cutter, and makes handling the pieces, sewing, hemming etc. sooo much easier. Then wash it to get the starch out.
Get some practice with delicate fabrics first. I did a test run in a silky cheap polyester first. Learned about the starch trick, and got thin needles for the machine.
