In person the product is more of a true forest green than you see in the pictures, but that's the hazard of buying online so it's not really a big deal. Gutterman silk thread just isn't that high quality as far as silk threads go in my opinion. It breaks about as easily as polyester or cotton thread and doesn't have that nice smooth feeling you would expect of a nicer silk thread. That all being said, it is better suited for sewing machine use than some of the nicer silk threads, which tend to be a bit thicker and better for handsewing. Not the absolute best, but definitely not the worst so it'd probably perfectly fine for most home sewers to use on their projects.
