Composed of 60% viscose and 40% wool, the combination of the two fibers offers a soft, nubby surface that’s mostly opaque with occasional sheer pockets to give it a touch of visibility. Along with a moderately heavy weight, the flexible drape is perfect for cozy dresses, dramatic coats, elevated hoodies, and so much more. A lining is suggested for more structured garments and added comfort.Note that this fabric is made with a knit base that provides a less-than-25% stretch along the crosswise grain, but it functions as a woven for most purposes.

Fabric arrived quickly. Color was as depicted in pictures. High end quality material. Satisfactory shopping experience in spite of not being able to "touch and feel" prior to purchase. Will use again.

Lovely boiled wool, drapes beautifully for the cape I am sewing. Color on screen was a close match to true color.

Very lovely hand feel, not itchy -unless you’re allergic to wool of course, & breathable due to the knit structure. Fabric was delivered true to color on my Mac OS computer screen. I want it in all of the colors! Thumbs up!

I bought this boiled wool fabric for a long coat/sweater to be worn in the autumn. It sews like a dream and drapes beautifully. I not only made my coat, I made a child's coat for my granddaughter. Both were successful because of this great fabric.

I have loved the smell and feel of wool since I was a little girl and this boiled wool did not disappoint. I made an absolutely darling cape with it – it is the perfect weight. To finish the cape I added a lining of colorful cotton. I would absolutely encourage you to order a swatch if you’re curious! The best bit of my experience with this, though, was Mood customer service. My package ended up at my old address and Mood swiftly got a new package sent to me.

This is such a great fabric for children's jackets! I made this bonnet/jacket ensemble for my Etsy shop, Bespoke Needlework. No lining required because the fabric is soft enough with the 50/50 blend. This sunflower color is also just great. With the red trim, blue buttons, and hedgehog and mushroom embroidery, it struck the woodland vibe.
I did the hand embroidery with 100% cotton perle cotton and it worked out great even though my stitches were pretty dense. I didn't have to use any sort of backing on it to prevent distortion of the fabric. I did line the bonnet for two reasons: 1) The contrasting fabric made it really cute; and 2) I was hoping that it would give some protection to the wool from whatever oil might transfer from the baby's scalp. But, since the ensemble is only size 6 months, it probably won't see enough wear to get to that point anyway.
Of course, the one drawback is that the fabric is dry clean/hand wash only. Not super-practical for children's clothing. However, there are plenty of wool sweaters on the market so I decided there has to be some segment of the market that it appeals to.

This fabric has sewn up beautifully into wonderful clothes for children. I have used it for several hand-embroidered bonnet/jacket ensembles as well as some Nordic style waistcoats. (These are all pictured in my Etsy shop, Bespoke Needlework, if you’d like to take a closer look.) The boiled wool takes even the most dense embroidery beautifully. I haven’t had to use any sort of fabric stabilizer under my embroidery to prevent fabric distortion.
Because of the wool/viscose blend, the fabric is gentle enough for soft skin even without a lining. The bonus of no lining is that the garment maintains some stretch so it wears more like a sweater than a woven wool. Although the fabric is labeled as dry clean only, in my experience, it responds well to spot cleaning with cool water and even hand washing if necessary.
