The face features a solid black coloration using glass bead technology which allows for the "reflective" effect. The back is comprised of a plain white polyester woven with the hand of a nylon taslan. Glass bead technology uses tiny glass beads to reflect light. Incoming light beams bend as they pass through the front surface of each glass bead and reflect off a mirrored surface behind the bead. The beam then passes back through the front surface and returns toward the light source. The process in return gives you a killer fabric to use for trimming, lining, safety garments, sportswear, etc. Try using this reflective fabric for detailing a windbreaker or piping for a motorcycle jacket.

Not the shade of black I was hoping for and I’ve found other fabrics that were more luminescent or reflective, but it served its purpose.

This reflective fabric worked great as tape inserted into the seams of a windbreaker. It was easy to cut (with a rotary blade), sew, press (with lowest iron setting), and topstitch. I imagine it would work well as self fabric, in addition to shining (pun intended!) as trim fabric. Highly recommend. Just make sure your hands and work area are very clean before using it, as it shows every little grease mark (easily washed away with soap and water).

I need something reflective to wear walking the dog at night, so I bought this to make my own.
It only reflects when there is super bright, direct light (like a camera flash). It’s not reflective enough for regular car lights or flashlights to reflect, unless you’re at the exact perfect angle (unlikely when you and a car are both moving).
It also stops reflecting when wet.
Even the piping on my dog’s harness reflects in ambient light. But this pricey fabric? Nope.
