I just can't say enough about this fabric. I have owned a few silk garments before, and absolutely love them, but this is my first time sewing with silk. It was for a special occasion that warranted a little indulgence. It should be noted that such an indulgence deserves special care so I really took my time with this make (it's New Look 6557 — probably out of print). I handled it as little as possible, and with great care. I stay stitched every single pieces and either used a press cloth or pressed from the wrong side. To get a little flash of colour on the dance floor I lined the skirt portion with majesty purple silk crepe de chine. If you are looking to justify a little indulgence for a special fabric then believe me, you are worth it! I don't know that you will ever find something that feels as nice as this and floats around with each movement. It is both beautiful and comfortable and I have a feeling I will love this dress for the rest of my life.
