Having only worked with cheapo fabric from big-box stores I was blown away at the quality of this wool. I made my son a winter jacket with this and it genuinely looks like I bought it from a store -if not better since I also used hand-made wooden buttons on it, ha! I did add a liner but it felt soft enough you could probably do without if you wanted. It cuts like butter and doesn't move around when you're sewing it. It was the most I've ever paid for fabric and worth every penny.

Very nice fabric with wonderful drape. I made a copy of a high-end iconic kimono coat in calf length. I did not wash the fabric first. If I made another coat I would wash. Holding the fabric to the light you can see daylight. After finishing the coat I washed one small piece and, washed and machine dried another. Washing and drying achieved an opaque and thick boiled wool. Washing and air drying was in between the two. I am now in the dilemma of whether I should wash the finished coat
and risk the alteration it might make in size. It is beautiful the way it is. Just not as heavy as it would have been if washed.
