Dry-cleaning is recommended, though some wools can take hand washing. Always test a swatch first if you are going to care for your wool fabrics at home rather than using a drycleaner. Many of the fine wools Mood sells online and in-store have already been "sponged," or preshrunk, but you can preshrink your wool if necessary. Mood recommends taking your uncut wool fabric to the drycleaners and asking them to steam it for you, which will safely preshrink it more effectively than you can using home methods.

Mood isn't kidding about this being semi-sheer; it's loosely woven, so it's almost a mesh. I ended up using cotton quilting to interline it, since interfacing showed through too much. It also falls apart at cut edges, so even if the garment is lined you may want to serge the edges just for a better (and cleaner) sewing experience.
All that said, I absolutely adore the Heather Blazer I made with this. It's a great lighter-weight layering piece and goes with almost everything in my closet.

The fabric sewed easily. Before cutting, I applied medium weight black knit interfacing to the fabric, to stabilize the fabric and to prevent fraying of the cut edges. Because of the drop in the fabric design, I had to carefully pin the stripes periodically on the folded fabric so that I was sure the stripes aligned on both cut edges of the fabric. You need to order extra fabric to accommodate the 2.5" drop in the fabric. It was not possible to get a perfect match on the sleeves because of the gathering at the top of the sleeve, but it was pretty close. I skipped doing bound buttonholes because of the weave of the fabric. The machined buttonholes turned out well.
