Arrived timely, fabric was well packaged and extremely beautiful. Quasi-sheer fabric, so I doubled it in order to make it opaque enough to conceal the inside of my Bible.
Totally moved on a whim, with a simple idea in mind, and absolutely no experience nor a strategy to ensure that I wouldn’t completely undermine what had already been done so far.
This has truly been a restorative project that I got to do with my True Friend. This Bible was given to my husband as an early teenager and he rarely used it. I was led to study from it just a few years ago, when I began to really “eat the strong meat” of the Word.
When I got ahold of it, only a few years pass and chunks of pages began to slip out. I’d glue them back in but then more would slip out with all the usage. It made me so sad because I didn’t want to get a new Bible. B this point, I didn’t feel I really needed a new one… they’re so expensive anyway and all my notes and things were well journaled in this one.
So I prayed and cried out to my Heavenly Father, as the pages kept falling out. The Bible was literally falling apart. Chunks of pages tore away from the spine, and I did not get why. So I tore off the old bible cover to inspect it. Found it was perfect bound bible — which isn’t v popular much these days, unless you got a basic cheap but decent bible. It’s just not ideal for any sort of longevity, due to the weight of the Book — pages are glued not sewn. So the fabric here is sewn at the edge w an invisible method and not adhered to the interior portion of the cover so that the texture and feel of it may move freely as I open, carry or close my Bible.
So, this prayerful project has truly been a journey for me, where I’ve given much wisdom from above. All of which has led me, like a lil child, thru every stage and new addition to the restoration. I’m pretty impressed, with this being my v first time even using such a lovely yet understated fabric for the purpose of edifying and beautifying the inner cover of my full-grain European hide, gently buffed, velvety, suede-like nap, nubuck leather journal wrap-around cover. Abba Father tailored it to me, it’s unique, personalized, feminine but not overt. I love how the monochromatic color tones of grey, taupe, nickel and pastelish lilac-pink all play off one another. It’s cool, and been a lot of fun to learn about binding and using various textiles/materials. And this step of concealing the leather, was essential because my Bible often lies open, so the inside of the leather was seen and imho it wasn’t v easy on the eyes, at all… w the chiffon fabric, it’s a nice, perfect accent color that makes it v pleasant to look at during my studies or just in general.
