This dress comes from the 1940's when square shoulders, narrow hips, and skirts that ended just below the knee were the height of fashion. Fabric rationing had lead to the use of darts, pleats, tucks, and small gathers to create interest on dresses, rather than full skirts and sleeves. Our dress is based off an original hand-sewn dress from the late-1940s, when fabric had become a little more available, and when dresses were still word to do daily work as well as to go out on the town. This dress has an interesting bodice construction, with shoulder and waist pleats and darts, and a shawl-collar. Skirt darts create a flattering look while adding plenty of ease in the hip area. Elbow-length sleeves with cuffs make this nearly a year-round dress. An invisible side zipper closes the dress.

Shipping Policy
We ship all patterns via USPS Ground Advantage within 1 to 3 business days. We ship within in the United States. We do not ship SewShare orders internationally.
Refund Policy
Our policy lasts 30 days on physical products. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. For PDF patterns, once downloaded, we cannot offer refunds.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable):
Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts, for reasons not due to our error
Any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery
Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain number of days.
Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company; it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded, or will only be refunded at the sale price.
Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at mail@folkwear.com and send your item to: PO Box 732, Fairview, North Carolina US 28730.
Gifts
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be emailed to you.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
If you are shipping an item(s) over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item(s).
Suggested Fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics with good drape such as cotton batiste and lawn, rayon challis, wool crepe, wool gauze, silk noil or silk crepe.

One small correction in older print version: In the Waistband Facing section, instructions should read: Match edge of facing to bodice at waist, matching notches and side seams, with right side of facing to wrong side of bodice. Stitch facing through all layers from waistband side, using previously stitched waist seam as a guide. The bodice seam will be sandwiched between the Waistband and Waistband Facing. Fold over unstitched edge of Waistband facing by 3/8” (9.5mm) to the wrong side and press.
